CVS is now offering COVID-19 vaccinations to teachers in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

The company issued the following statement: “We’ve aligned with updated Federal Retail Pharmacy Program guidelines by making appointments available to pre-K through 12 educators and staff and childcare workers in all 17 states where we currently offer COVID-19 vaccines, including in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.”

The company’s website indicates that teachers are eligible, but at 8:46 a.m., it showed that 9 pharmacies offering shots in Rhode Island were booked. Massachusetts pharmacies are also booked.

Here’s who is eligible for vaccination at CVS pharmacies in Rhode Island

  • People 65 and older
  • Teachers K-12, Daycare and preschool workers, and staff
  • They must live, work or study in Rhode Island

President Joe Biden on Tuesday pushed states to get at least one shot of vaccine into the arms of teachers by the end of March to hasten school re-openings, the Associated Press reported.

Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee says vaccinating teachers should be a “top priority.”
