DiCenso inks contract extension in Pawtucket

The Pawtucket School Committee unanimously voted to extend Superintendent Patti DiCenso’s contract at last night’s school committee meeting after a long duration of executive session.  DiCenso will likely lead the school department for the next three years at a salary of $180,000 per year.  She agreed to give the school committee a 9 month notice if she decides to leave, but nothing indicates this is the case before she decides to retire.

A humble DiCenso waited patiently to speak at School Committee Chairman Michael Araujo listed nearly three dozen achievements since DiCenso began as School Performance Officer several years ago.  DiCenso credited Lee Rabbit, Kathy Suriani, Melissa Devine, Hersh Cristino, and countless others in her typical style of not taking all of the credit.

“The magic happens in the classroom when you let teachers do what they love”, said DiCenso which received an applause from the attending crowd.

In other administrative news, the Interim Special Education Director Rosanne Badway’s contract was also unanimously approved.  Robert Wall, our former Special Ed. Director, is currently a Special Projects Administrator at Baldwin Elementary.
