Have you registered yet for the SLO Forum being sponsored by the RI Federation of Teachers and Health Professionals and the RI Innovation Consortium on October 2nd at the Omni Hotel in Providence? 

In response to questions and concerns raised by RI teachers & principals, the Innovation Consortium & the RIFTHP commissioned a comprehensive analysis of RIDE’s SLO design & requirements.  The results are in and the report just issued includes findings and recommendations in five important areas and could serve as a blueprint for the changes many educators believe are needed in the system.

We hope you will join teachers, principals and education leaders from across the state on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Omni Hotel from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM for a presentation of the report’s findings by CTAC experts and an opportunity to ask questions, inform next steps and learn how to make SLOs work for you and your students. 

This is your chance to find out how

·         SLOs are being successfully implemented in other districts/states;

·         Implementation & use of SLOs as an Instructional Tool could be improved in RI;

·         The Final Effectiveness Rating should be adjusted;

·         The link between evaluation & certification should be eliminated;

·         RI educators and policy makers should work together to “rethink” the use of SLOs

TeachersprincipalsDEC membersdistrict and state administrative and union leaders are invited & encouraged to attend the forum to learn about and act upon the recommendations in this report.

·         The forum will include a General Session Presentation, Q&A and role-alike breakouts;

·         Participants will receive certificates suitable as evidence of “Professional Responsibility”;

·         A light dinner will be served;

·         Parking in the Convention Center Parking Garage will be covered.
