Within the next several days the RI Legislature will be acting on two bills which are important to our membership. Senate Bill S0087 Sub A and House Bill H5160 Sub A are bills that support local approval for the creation or expansion of charter schools. We are working to make the local approval process permanent. The continued growth of charter schools is having a significant negative impact on our already strained school budgets. Sending districts should have the authority to approve whether or not to support these publicly funded private schools. Please use the attached links to urge your Senator and Representative to support S0087 Sub A and H5160 Sub A.
