The newly-elected Pawt. School Committee for next term leaves out some familiar faces in yesterday’s primary

The Rhode Island election yesterday put forth seven candidates for school committee in a low turn-out primary in Pawtucket. In quite an upset, Chairperson Jay Charbonnaeu and member Marsha Fernandez will not move on to the general election in November to face independent challenger David Fargnoli.

The final total votes were:

Joanne Bonollo 2752

Omar Reyes. 2467

Jim Chellel 2390

Matthew Wildenhain 2385

Angeliz Rosa. 2303

Kim Grant. 2190

Juan Pablo Barrera. 2175

Marsha Fernandez. 1598

All six endorsed candidates by the Pawtucket Teachers’ Alliance will move on, in addition to longtime member Kimberly Grant, as C.O.P.E. Director Cheryl Babiac worked tirelessly to support in this campaign season.
