This new video from the United Federation of Teachers in New York City is an important reminder: Nothing replaces a one-on-one conversation. Door-knocking teams visited the homes of thousands of UFT members to talk to fellow members about the value of their union rights and benefits and what was at stake because of the Janus case, which was then before the U.S. Supreme Court. With an app and a map, teams deployed through neighborhoods to talk about how we can accomplish together what would be impossible on our own. The positive response was overwhelming, because members know that unions help level the playing field and create better lives for working families.
