Tolman High School baseball team played Newtown High School at McCoy Stadium last Saturday in an effort to raise funds to assist the fallen town after disaster struck them last fall. Nearly 1000 spectators attended, coupled with various sponsors from around the city, resulting in $8,500 raised for the Sandy Hook School Workers Assistance Fund.
Tolman’s head coach Theo Murray, Athletic Director John Scanlon, and PawSox President Mike Tamburro worked together planning this event to benefit the Sandy Hook Community. Support was shown by Mayor Donald Grebien, local business sponsors, teacher unions, little league and softball teams, as well as the Pawsox staff. It was an excellent display of the hard work and charity of Murray, Scanlon, Tamburro, and the Pawtucket community.
